Target Australia has officially become the first retailer in the world to launch becausewecare™'s BotanicBag™! The biodegradable and compostable non-woven red reusable bags are currently available in a large size at selected Target and Target Country store across Australia. They will be progressively phased into all stores in both the medium and large size over the course of the year. 

Target Australia’s decision to adopt this non-woven bag alternative, follows the retailers move in 2009 to remove all plastic shopping bags from its stores nationally, potentially removing over 100 million plastic bags that may have gone to landfill each year.

Target Australia Managing Director Dene Rogers said that the company was proud to be the first retailer in Australia to offer these revolutionary new bags to our customers.

“We all have a role to play in reducing our impact on the environment and the introduction of this new certified biodegradable and compostable reusable bag, further strengthens our bag strategy and provides our customers with another alternative to choose from.”

All profits from the sale of Target’s reusable red bags will continue to support The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, an organisation aims to keep children safe from violence.
