Because We Care become the first company to be AS4736 certified by the Australasian Bioplastics Association (ABA).
The ABA is an independent body created to monitor and validate the biodegradable and compostable claims made by manufacturers, along with promoting standards for labeling to be consistent with internationally recognized testing practices and methods. The ABA comes along at an important time within the biodegradable and compostable plastics industry, with new products entering into the market everyday claiming to be biodegradable or compostable without regulation or verification.
The Association acts as a communication focal point for media; government; environmental organisations; and the public, on issues relating to bioplastics. They will also spearhead the removal of any non-legitimised products from the market so consumers are not being misled. Always look for the Australian Standard AS 4736!
