 becausewecare™ appeared at the Going Green Expo in Melbourne Australia over the first weekend of May 2010. This was a fantastic opportunity to talk to various green thinking members of the public about what becausewecare™ do and how we aim to assist businesses and consumers on lessening our reliance on traditional plastics. The Shire of Northampton in Western Australia goes plastic bag free

  becausewecare™  received an email from a student Ellen at Kalbarri District High School late in 2009 with a goal of making her town plastic bag free.  becausewecare™,  Kalbarri District High School and the Shire of Northampton Council have worked together to turn Ellen’s goal into a reality. becausewecare™  provided a donation of free compostable bags to kick start the initiative and we were able to go to Kalbarri for the official launch. London looking to be a plastic bag free city by 2012

  Boris Johnson, the mayor of London has annouced an intention to make London a plastic bag free city by the time of the 2012 Olympic games. This environmentally friendly inititative will follow the likes of neighbouring country Ireland who have introduced a plastic bag levy in 2002. Although a plastic bag levy is a great initiative in curbing consumption of single use plastic bags, a ban ensures not only education for consumers, but forces retailers to offer environmentally friendlier alternatives. Abu Dhabi plan to phase out plastic bags

 The Centre of Waste Management in Abu Dhabi are in the process of passing legislation to ban plastic bags within the city to be implemented by mid 2010. This will be big step for both Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates as a whole, which have parallel plans to ban plastic bags by 2013.
