Officeworks introduce a compostable bag alternative

 Officeworks introduced a bag levy within their stores Australia wide late in 2008 for their shopping bags, encouraging customers to consider whether they need a bag when they reach the registers. Recently, Officeworks have decided to offer a becausewecare™ compostable alternative in their stores Australia wide, no longer offering point of sales shopping bags made from non-renewable resources. Great job and we wish Officeworks continued success with their environmentally responsible endeavours!

 Defence Lake Attack is a premier defence charity event within the Melbourne community and provides an opportunity for Defence and corporate bodies to showcase a sense of community spirit in a healthy environment. becausewecare™  sponsorship of the event contributed to the success of the Defence Lake Attack which resulted in raising $212,000. This enabled the Defence Lake Attack Committee to transfer $53 000 to four supported charities – Kidsafe Victoria, Melbourne Legacy, Redkite and The Compassionate Friends. Coles Online replace plastic shopping bags with compostable ones

  Coles Online has introduced a compostable bag in place of their plastic checkout bags for all of their operating centres Australia wide.  becausewecare™  will supply bags to Coles Online, making them the first online grocer in Australia to introduce a compostable and biodegradable replacement to conventional plastic bags. With plans to extend Coles Online operations to more locations Australia wide, we are definitely excited to watch Coles Online grow and to look forward to growing alongside them.

Target announce a nation wide ban on plastic bags

  Target has introduced a nationwide ban on plastic bags in their stores from the 1st of June 2009. This massive move is expected to reduce the number of plastic bag consumption within Australia by 100 million bags per year. becausewecare™  will supply Target with compostable bags as alternatives within all Target and Target Country stores, available in both medium and large sizes.
